Taiko is Japanese ensemble drumming and incorporates drumming patterns, choreographed movements and energy shouts to create powerful and exciting performances.
Humber Taiko was founded by Lisa Oliver and Emma Lawn in 2014 to support the development of Taiko drumming across the Humber region.
Following the creation of Gyoko Taiko in Grimsby in 2010 and later the formation of Tetsu Taiko in Scunthorpe, Lisa and Emma established Humber Taiko in order to manage the developing Taiko scene across the region.
A large number of School Taiko projects are taking places both North and South of the Humber as well as appearances at local events and festivals.
Humber Taiko primarily organises the annual Humber Taiko Festival but can also signpost you to your nearest Taiko group or club!
