Gyoko Taiko
Gyoko have a number of weekly classes for young people and adults to join in Grimsby, North East Lincolnshire!
All of the classes take place at the Music & Performing Arts Service, John Whitgift Academy, Grimsby. The classes run term time only but additional workshops and projects may be offered during some holidays and weekends. Mondays 5pm-6pm Taiko Tigers (Beginners Group) 6.30pm-8pm Youth Taiko (Advanced Group) Tuesdays 5.30pm-6.30pm Taiko Warriors (Intermediate Group) 7pm-8.30pm Adult Taiko Group (ages 16+) For exact term dates, visit this website - TAIKO GROUPS Costs are £30 per term (can be payable by half term, some discounts may apply) for children's groups and £40 for adult groups. Gyoko means 'Fishing Port' and was named to represent and celebrate the strong fishing heritage of Grimsby and it's local area.
Gyoko Taiko have performed across the country at events and festivals including the Cleethorpes Olympic Torch Relay celebration. The youth group have toured Belgium and members of Gyoko travel down to Devon every summer for the UK Taiko Festival. |
