About the Music Centre: The Music Centre is held at John Leggott College on alternating Saturdays during term time, 9.45am to 12.15pm, and offers opportunities for children to play in larger instrumental ensembles. See the rehearsal schedule for further details. The Music Centre provided the orchestral accompaniment to the Cycle Song which was a hugely successful Cultural Olympiad Event in Scunthorpe in the summer of 2012. Young musicians inspired by this are very welcome to join one of the North Lincolnshire ensembles. The skills developed in ensemble music making are invaluable and complement those acquired in instrumental lessons. It is also one of the most rewarding and enjoyable aspects of being a musician. The Music Centre also welcomes new members as part of the Musical Inclusion (MINC) Programme. These additional music groups for three to five year old singing, six to seven year old recorder playing and 8 to 18 years groups Taiko (Japanese drumming) These are also held at John Leggott College, every Saturday morning during term time.
