We are really excited to announce that Hanna Jasmine Brunskill of Taiko Journey will be joining us once again this September to work with us on an exciting new project through Gyoko Taiko in Grimsby!
Thanks to funding from the Walwyn Chapman Charitable Trust and Community First via the Community Development Foundation we have been able to set up a series of workshops and events which will see the creation of a brand new piece of music all about our local area. The new piece will of course feature, and be centered around, Taiko drumming but will also include elements such as movement, voice and other instruments. Our hope is that eventually lots of local people will know the piece and whenever we play it at festivals and events around the area, as many people as possible will be able to come forward and join in in some capacity. We will be piloting the piece in some local schools but if you would like to get involved in its creation then join us at our workshops on Sat 20th & Sun 21st September at the Music & Performing Arts Service (John Whitgift Academy, Grimsby) between 10am-4pm. You are welcome to stop by for a short time or join us for the whole weekend! Visitors can join in with drumming and music making, contribute ideas, test things out or just sit and observe the process. Check out our event page for more details HERE
