Rhythm Soul
Friday 2nd November, 7pm at The Plowright Theatre, Scunthorpe
An exhilarating evening of Taiko featuring amazing Taiko players from Taiko Journey (England), Taiko Zurich (Switzerland) and Tsuchigumo Daiko (Scotland). Supported by the excellent Tetsu Taiko.

This event takes place at The Plowright Theatre. 

TAIKO NIGHT
Saturday 3rd November, 7pm at The Baths Hall, Scunthorpe
Humber Taiko presents the annual celebration of Taiko featuring local youth and community groups from across Northern Lincolnshire, and guests from further afield. 

This show takes place at The Baths Hall. 

Humber Taiko Festival is supported using public funding by the Arts Development at North Lincolnshire Council.

Workshops

Thursday 1st November 2018
6pm-8pm at Frederick Gough School, Scunthorpe
Cross Hand Drumming for experienced players
With Martin Doyle from Tsuchigumo Daiko 
Participants will learn how to develop a smooth, relaxed flow between two drums, with emphasis on the related techniques, grips, movements and body positions used to execute this type of playing effectively. You will learn how to maximise your movement potential and relaxation to improve speed, timing, visual impact, power, accuracy, and articulation on multiple drums.

Waku Doki
with Hannah Jasmine Brunskill from Taiko Journey 
Seen performed at "Rhythm Soul" at the Plowright Theatre on Friday 2nd November, learn to play Taiko Journey's "Waku Doki", a high energy, fast paced piece. This is the perfect adrenaline rush workshop with chance to learn different parts on different style drums and with resources available for further development after the session.

Buchiawase
with Micah Wilhelm from Taiko Zurich 
The piece 'Buchiawase' comes from the Miura Peninsula south of Tokyo, where it is traditionally played to celebrate a bountiful fishing haul. Participants will learn the powerful piece in the style of 'Kenka Daiko' or fighting drums, encouraging friendly competition between opposing teams, with energetic choreography for all levels.

10am-11am at Frederick Gough School, Scunthorpe 
"Use the Force" Children's Taiko Workshop for experienced players (8+)
with Yeeman Mui from LA Taiko Institute
This workshop offers exercises and drills that strengthen participants’ connection with their own body as they explore their connection with the instruments. Explore how to move your body efficiently to develop a strong and dynamic strike. A practice piece will be introduced as part of the workshop.

Sunday 4th November 2018 
11.30am-12.30pm at Frederick Gough School, Scunthorpe 
"Taiko FUNdamentals" Beginners Community Taiko Workshop 
Through a series of FUN songs and games with taiko drumming, Taiko Fundamentals focuses on developing the participants’ musicality level, creativity and sense of originality, while navigating within the realms of the art of taiko. Studies have shown that our learning abilities are maximised within a fun and supportive atmosphere, the goal of Taiko FUNdamentals is to create an inclusive environment for learning the core elements of the art of taiko. (adults & ages 8+)
