Humber Taiko Festival 2016
Our very first Humber Taiko Festival took place at the Baths Hall in Scunthorpe in November and was a resounding success! On Wed 2nd Nov we welcomed the incredible Taiko Meantime with their performance of 'Dojoji', the first night of their UK tour. Thurs 3rd Nov will ran community Taiko workshops and Fri 4th Nov we presented our annual 'Taiko Night' concert featuring local youth, school and community groups...with a special guest performance from York's Kaminari Taiko UK!
The festival featured:
Wed 2nd November: The Legend of 'DOJOJI' by Taiko Meantime - 7pm at The Baths Hall in Scunthorpe
Through powerful Japanese drumming, music and dance, Taiko Meantime rampages through ancient Japan in a unique theatrical concert. Featuring special guests Chieko Kojima (of Kodo) and Shunjo Ono (head monk of Dojoji temple itself), Dojoji is ravishing, fearsome entertainment. Free pre-show talk at 6pm for ticket holders with Rev. Shunjo Ono, telling the Dojoji story with ancient scrolls.
Thurs 3rd November: FREE Taiko workshop with Martin Doyle of Tsuchigumo Daiko - at Outwood Academy Foxhills in Scunthorpe
Fri 4th November: 'Taiko Night' with Humber Taiko, featuring special guests Kaminari UK - 7pm at The Baths Hall in Scunthorpe
